Portrait Photography
As a photographer I follow A LOT of people on instagram and other social media platforms like Tik Tok and Facebook. I could spend hours upon hours scrolling through other photographers pages to get ideas and try to understand how they do what they do. There are a few people in particular that have really caught my eye over the years, Ashley Brehm and Brandon Woelfel for instance. I’ll focus in on just a few and give you some examples of their phenomenal work.
- Ashley Brehm
This is actually a photographer that I have worked with before! She is honestly just amazing to work with. I was at a point in my life where I was gaining confidence in myself and I decided to go out and do a spontaneous photoshoot. She came from Bend to take pictures of me in Portland. My experience with her was very professional but also super relaxed and any nerves I had about being on the other side of the camera were extinguished. She really was a pleasure to work with.
Her goal with her photography is the show that there is beauty in darkness. While her photographs may seem dark they hold such powerful meaning. Not all of her images are of dark times however.
She travels around the world and captures the wonders of the world as well.

2. Brandon Woelfel
I have been following this photographer for sometime now and I have to say that whenever his pictures pop up in my feed it is a delight. He is a 23 year old photographer based in New York. He went to the School of Visual Arts in New York. On his website you can see that he has partnerships with places like Apple, Nikon, Buzzfeed, Urban Outfiters and the like. His pictures are always full of color and life and just fun to look at in general.
People have even created presets inspired by his style of photo editing!

3. LVN Studio
Now this is one of the photographers that I have come to follow on TikTok. His videos on how he takes his pictures are actually super helpful. As a photographer starting out one of the things that can be challenging is posing the models. Watching videos like the one that he posts among many others is extremely helpful and his photos always turn out so great!

4. Jessie Dee
Jessie Dee is yet another photographer that I follow on both Instagram and TikTok. Makeup artist and photogrpher Jessie Dee really takes stunning photos. Her photos are typically very colorful. She does both Corporate Photography and Fashion Photography. Her background as a makeup artist has benefitted her in her retouching skills because she sees things that “other retouchers would never notice”.
She is located in Downtown Orlando Florida and works mainly out of her studio.
5. Liquid Verve
Alex Miller is another photographer that I follow and truly love her work. The color in her photos make them seem something of another world. She is based in Los Angeles. She provides tutorial videos and a mentorship program through her website.
She turns her original photos into works of fantasy.

These five photographers give me a daily dose techniques that vary with each one. Not a single one of them does things the exact same. The styles and focuses are different and seeing that variety allows me as a photographer to see into the possibilities of the future.
